The concept of Starchildren (also known as Star Children) originates from New Age spirituality and metaphysical beliefs. It refers to children who are believed to possess special spiritual, psychic, or cosmic attributes, and are thought to have come from other dimensions, planets, or star systems. According to this belief system, Starchildren are here to help humanity advance spiritually, raise collective consciousness, and bring about positive change in the world.
There are three main types of Starchildren, each with their own characteristics:
- Indigo Children:
- They are thought to be warriors, born to challenge societal structures and systems. Often seen as rebellious or highly opinionated, Indigo children are believed to possess strong intuition and a clear sense of purpose.
- They are described as highly intelligent, creative, and sometimes even labeled as having ADHD or other behavioral disorders due to their nonconformity.
- Crystal Children:
- Seen as peaceful and loving beings, Crystal children are believed to have a calming presence and are highly empathetic. They are often characterized by their large, bright eyes and are said to possess healing abilities.
- Crystal children are thought to be more emotionally sensitive and connected to spiritual realms. Their purpose is believed to be bringing love and peace to Earth.
- Rainbow Children:
- These children are considered the most evolved of the three groups, arriving with a high level of awareness and strong ties to cosmic energy. They are seen as highly joyful, fearless, and in tune with their spiritual gifts.
- Rainbow children are thought to have come to Earth to complete the work started by Indigo and Crystal children, and they often show a deep sense of compassion and unity with all life.
Common Traits of Starchildren:
- Heightened intuition or psychic abilities.
- A strong sense of purpose, often from a young age.
- Empathy, sensitivity, and a desire to help others.
- Nonconformity or feeling “different” from others.

While this concept is embraced by some New Age communities, it’s important to note that it is not scientifically recognized or validated by mainstream psychology or academia.
